Upgrade: Sony Nex 5

We recently got a new camera: SONY NEX-5.
最近、新しいカメラを手に入れた。ソニーのNEX-5だ。

Our old camera was 7 years old.
I think the camera update was due.
古いカメラは７年持っていたものだ。
もうそろそろ新しいカメラが欲しいところだった。


We didn't want DSLR, but we wanted smaller digital camera that is as good as the DLSR's. I think Sony's NEX-5 is qualifies that quality.
DLSRは欲しくないのだが、DSLRみたいに質が良いカメラがほしかったので、このNEX-5はそれに値するであろう。

Funny thing about the internett these days is that there are so many people willing to spend time reviewing the products. There are some who show you from the unboxing. It's crazy.
インターネットで面白いなぁ、と思うことは色んな商品をネットで評価してくれる人（外人）が山といることだ。しかも商品を箱から出すビデオでさえも見せてくれるひともいるからビックリする。

例えばこの方。上手にできている。

Apparently, these people don't get paid but get the product for free (you have to be very very very very popular and have reputation for giving fair reviews).
どうしてそんなに商品を買うお金を持っているかと疑問に思うが、こういう人たちは給料はもらいはしないが、商品の本社からタダで商品をもらっているらしい（もちろん、そうしてもらうまでには、ネットですごく人気になって、フェアな評価をするということが限定らしい）。

Washington DC (Part 5): Botanic Garden

Botanical gardens are well-tended parks displaying a wide range of plants labelled with their botanical names. They are often run by universities or other scientific research organizations and often have associated herbaria and research programmes in plant taxonomy or some other aspect of botanical science.
Botanic Gardenとは植物園のことで、単なる庭園ではなる、主として学術研究に供するために、植物学の視点で植物や樹木などを生きたまま栽培保存し、かつ研究の基準となる押し葉標本など標本類を蓄積保存する施設である。


We saw many flowers, plants, cacti... we even found carnivorous plant (below).
花やサボテンをはじめ、食虫植物なども見られた(下)。


Wao.
ワォ。


But you know what? It was hard to go inside the greenhouse during the hot summer day.
でも、すでに暑い夏の季節に温室に入るのは少しキツかった(笑)。

Washington DC (Part 4): FBI

これがあの有名なFBIの本部。

This building is really difficult to spot from distance and there is only four signs on the building that we could find that said FBI or "Federal Bureau of Investigation" (considering how big the building is). Obviously, this place was not open for public (and we knew that) so we just took few pictures.
この建物を見つけるのは少し大変だった。デッカイ建物のわりには「FBI」と書かれている看板が合計で４カ所しかなく（しかも小さい文字で）、間違えれば、ただの単なる建物にしか見えない。もちろん、関係者以外は立ち入り禁止なので、そとから写真を数枚撮るだけ。

Unlike in the movies I've seen like "Breach," "X files," and "National Tresure," the building itself was not as clean as I thought it was. I guess you could say they really were trying to make us think that FBi is an unrealistically futuristic and overly-sophisticated investigation force.
「Xファイル」や「アメリカを売った男」、「ナショナル・トレジャー」などの映画で見る建物とは違い、少し汚れていて、古い建物に見える。なんで、映画ではFBIの建物をそんなに近代っぽくみせたり、ハイセンスな感じでとるんだろう？

New Looks

It has been twelve years since I first set up this homepage. However, many contents of the homepage have been cut out because a lot of them are outdated. Moreover, in the recent years, I've only been updating my blog and the "Endless Journey," the section where I post my videos and photo albums. As a result, there are many areas in my website that have not been touched for many months, even years. These pages scream out the need to update.

このホームページを立ち上げてから１２年程だが、時がたつにつれて古くなりすぎたので載せなくなったがものたくさんある。しかも最近となってはブログとか、写真＆ビデオアルバムの「Endless Journey」のコーナーぐらいしか更新しなくなっている。結果的に何年も一切更新していないページがたくさんある。そろそろこのサイトもリフレッシュが必要と感じている。

So, for the next few months, I'd like to take some time
updating other website contents.
