2nd Anniversary

May 17 was our second anniversary.

We decided to eat out at cheesecake factory　to celebrate.
お祝いに「チーズケーキ工場」というレストランで外食。


Hugo was pretty excited.

We later realized we took a lot of pictures of Hugo but not for us. What an anniversary.

Moving to Salt Lake City... and new furnitures

We moved to Salt Lake City last month. Since our new place was only about 40 miles from where we were, the moving was not too complicated; thanks to all those who helped us move.
５月にソルトレークに引越しました。前に住んでいたところから64kmくらいしかはなれていなかったので、引越しもそこまでは複雑ではなかった。たくさんの人たちから助けを得ることができ、結構スムーズに引越しができました。ありがとう。

The apartment wasn't furnished so we bought several from IKEA.
Building was quite a project.
家具が全くないのでIKEAというスウェーデンの家具やで
数個家具を買って組み立てる。

The sofa we owned was pretty old so we decided to get a new sofa.
We bought the sofa from different store than IKEA.
持っていたソファも古かったので買いました。
ソファはIKEAとは別のお店からセールだった。

One thing I was really excited about was to buy the king size bed.
Oh how tired I Was of small and short beds!
My legs and arms no longer sticking out of my bed!
一番楽しみにしていたのはキングサイズのベッドを購入することだ。
もう短くて狭いベッドはうんざりだ。
これで手足がベッドからはみでることはないであろう。

Hugo got tired doing solo in a manner of few seconds, but a younger girl next to him seem to last longer.
やっぱ一人だと疲れるみたい。でも、年下の女の子は結構慣れてるっぽい（笑）。


But it was fun for him.

この時がやっと来たね。世界がひとつになる一瞬だ。

I will not be reviewing every single game for this year's world cup. I want everyone to watch the games instead of trying to follow my (or any other person's) reviews. So, don't be expecting me to be writing blogs about any particular game. I might write something about the final game, but most likely, I would keep my opinions to myself.
別にこのブログでワールド・サッカーを追っていくわけではない。
みなには是非実戦を観て欲しい。
決勝戦のことで何かを書くかもしれないが、
今大会のおいらのコメントを期待しないでほしい。
（え？誰も期待してないって？）



By the way, the teams that I root for are Germany, France, Switzerland and Denmark. For some reason, they're all from Europe but it does not include England or Japan, where I used to live... But Switzerland is on the list, so I should be okay.
ちなみにおいらが応援するチームはドイツ、フランス、スイス、デンマークである。
なぜかヨーロッパチームばっかだ。
住んでいたイギリスと日本がないのが気になるかと思われるが、
スイスはちゃんと入っているので、まぁいいではないか。

What? What about USA? No, thanks.
何？アメリカ？興味はありません。

アメリカのフードネットワークというTVチャンネルの「Diner's Drive-ins and Dive」という番組でとられたレストランである。日本でいう「ラーメンの旅」みたいな番組で、アメリカにある人気あるファーストフード、ドライブインやダイナー（アメリカの大衆食堂みたいなもの）を取り上げる番組である。

アメリカの地図。。。だった（笑）。出身地をピンで刺しまくってこうなったみたいだ。
テレビを見て世界中からお客さんが来るらしい。

ビデオや下の写真にもあるように、「Diner's Drive-ins and Dive」という番組ではガイ・フィエリという人が派手な赤いオープンカーに乗ったまま、レストランの前で番組のオープニングをする。
For those who don't know "Diner's Drive-ins and Dive" show, Guy Fieri rides his convertible car and introduces the diner at the very beginning of the show. Just like these.




One thing I really wanted to do other than to eat stramboli is to do this.

Las Vegas trip (Part 1)

We went to visit Las Vegas for six days.
Last time I personally visited LV was in yr 2003.
ラス・ベガスに行ってきた。自分が前回行ったのが2003年。今回は6日間行った。


Masami did really well on the freeway considering the fast she has not driven on the freeway that much. However, the person who worked the hardest was Hugo. Way to go for persevering!
正美ちゃんも慣れない高速道路の運転も頑張ったが、
一番頑張ったのは拓賢だ。えらいえらい!

We stayed at Masami's old boss' place for two days and we stayed at Circus Circus hotel for four days. Last time I visited LV, I was under 21 so my friend made all arrangements for hotels and shows but this time, we managed to do everything by ourselves. We found really cheap hotel rates, coupons and discounts for many restaurants and shows so we had lots of fun.
正美ちゃんの上司の自宅に二日巻泊めさせていただき、残りの四日はCircus Circusで泊まった。前回ラスベガス行ったときは未成年だったので、ホテル計画は友人がやったが、今回はすべて我輩たちで手配。こんなに安くていいの？？っていう値段でCircus Circusに泊まれたし、色んなクーポンも見つけて、レストランとかアトラクションも見れた。


I'm gonna show you LV in series. Today is just part 1, I'm only showing you the entrance sign of LV at north and south entrance of the strip.
今回はラスベガスパート１ということで、
ストリップの北と南入り口の大きいサインの写真。


You can miss the north sign very easily. Of course, we found lots of "drive in and get married" places.
北のサインは凄い見つけにくい。フリーモント・ストリートに着くちょっと前にある。
もちろん、そのあたりはすぐに結婚できるドライブ・スルーもあった（笑）。
