Why is it that when we ask strangers to take some pictures for us, they happen to be the worst photographers in the world????
なんで旅行中に知らない人に写真を撮ってもらうとその人たちにかぎって写真オンチなんだ！！？

Let me show you why.
なぜそう思うか見せてあげよう。
This was the kind of picture I wanted someone to take for me.
これが撮ってほしかった写真。


But WHAT IS THIS???
しかし、これは一体何だ！？？
Why is the picture diagonal? Where is the Big Ben tower?
Why the heck is the black construction box in the background?
I never asked that to be in the picture.
WHAT WERE THEY THINKING???

なんで写真が斜めなんだ？ビッグ・ベンの塔はどこに行ったんだ？
後ろに移っている工事の人たちが一休みするような黒いプレハブはなんだ？？
一体何を撮ろうとしたんだ？？

AND WHAT IS THIS???
そして何だこれはっっ！？？
What am I looking at??
こんな写真頼んでないぞ？？

if they used their brains.

ラスベガスで有名なべラジオ・ホテルの前で息子の拓賢をダッコして写真を撮る。

But when you ask a stranger to take a picture of you and your family,
this is what they do to you. See the next picture.
しかし家族全員写真に入ろうとして、
知らない人に写真をとってもらうとこうなってしまう。↓↓


What did we go to Las Vegas for??
ラスベガスに何しに行ったんだか。。。


Seriously, why does this happen so many times? When I want someone to take a picture, I purposefully ask someone who doesn't look creepy and unintelligent　(and trust me, that is NOT an easy thing to do). And this seems to work nicely. But at least once out of three times, I get these kind of pictures. So it must be that more than one third of tourists in the world are terrible photographers.
っていうか、こういうことが何で何回も起こるかね？知らない人に写真撮ってもらうときは、しっかりしてて、頭良さそうな人に頼むようにしてる（そういう人見つけるのって案外難しい）けど、３回に１回はこういう写真を撮られちゃう。という事は、世界中の観光客の３分の１以上の人たちが写真撮るのがヘタだということになってしまう。

前回、ロンドンを訪問してからすでに２年がたってしまった。あっというまである。徒歩でロンドン中を歩き回ったとき（合計で19kmほど？）に撮ったビデオが残っているので、見てほしい。
I can't believe two years have passed since I visited London last time. Here are some videos I took while I was walking all around London on foot (I think I walked about 12 miles that day).

これがマリゴールド・アリー（テームズ川沿い）にあるグラフィティ壁だ。
This is the graffiti wall on Marigold Alley (by river Thames).

グラフィティで有名なバンスキィの落書きより凝ってはいないし、有名ではないが、たくさんのスケートボードの青少年たちがタムロするところである。
This place is not as ellaborate and recognized as Bansky's many graffitis, but this place is a hang out place for many gangters　who like to skateboard.

この工場を思い起こさせる建物は実はビジネスの建物であって、あの有名なロイズ保険会社の建物なのである。
This industrious building is not a factory, but a business building for Lloyd's insurance company.




付近にある建物と比べるとすごく対照的だ。（次のビデオに映っているエッグ・タワーは別だが。。。）
This building creates a great contrast with other buildings nearby (except for, of course, the infamous egg tower--which is shown on the next video).


これがSwiss Re Building(又は、「Gherkin」、「30 St. Axe Building」)である。この建物は遠いところからでもよく見える。
This is the Gherkin/Swiss Re Building, or more publically known as 30 St. Axe building. This building is very noticeable from distance.

このSwiss Re Buildingとロイズの建物は観光者たちがよく見逃しがちな建物だとも思う。ミレニアム・ブリッジなんかより見る価値は遥かにあると思う。
I think Gherkin building and Lloyd's are two under-appreciated buildings by the tourists... These buildings are far superior to that silly Millenium Bridge.

Magnificent, innit?

これが我輩が５年間昼＆夜すごしたBYUのタルメージ・ビルディング。
This the Talmage Building at BYU--the building I spent night and day for the past five years.


その建物の中に、こういうスクリーンがあって、「数学でどういう仕事ができる」などの数学部の宣伝をやっている。ところが時々こんな宣伝がでてくる。。。
Inside the Talmage building, there is a screen like this. On this screen, they show advertisement for Math department... things like "what kind of job you can get if you major in Math." But every once in a while, this screen comes on.


我輩の名前のついた仕事の名前である。
They talk about a profession named after me.


偉くなったような感じである。
NICE ONE! Two thumbs up.

拓ちゃんのヘルメットの先生とアポイントメント。
前回訪問したとき、飾りがなかったのに、今回はなんとデコレーションが！
親子３人揃って興味津々！
We visited doctor's office for Hugo's helmet.
Last time, we visited the office, the waiting had no decoration but this time, they made major renovations. All of us were amused.


「拓ちゃーん！お友達もヘルメット着けてるよー。」
"Hugo, our friends wear helmet too"


ヘルメット着けてる人形とミニ・ヘルメットも！
They had a little doll with helmet!

拓賢が８ヶ月のときの写真です。ストローで水を飲むようになったり、
ハイハイしたり、ハイ・アドベンチャーな日々です。
These are Hugo's pictures from when he was 8 months old.
He's learning to drink using straw and crawl.



次のビデオはボリュームを大きくしないとわからない。
壁の反対側から何かドンドン音がするので、何の音かなぁ。。。と思い、
壁の反対側に行ってみると。。。
You probably have to turn up your computer volume.
I heard a weird noise from the wall, so I checked the other side of the wall to see where the noise was coming from.

足の強さもハンパではなくなった。

卒業して、みなが引っ越してしまう前に皆でピクニックを楽しんだ。
卒業式などの写真もちゃんとアップするので、もうちょいと待ってね。
We decided to have a last minute picnic before everyone graduates and
leaves the town.　I'll make sure to upload some pictures from graduation later.


何が起きているのかさっぱりわかっていない拓賢。
Hugo has no idea what's going on.


でも、拓賢はいつもみんな話題になっていました。
But he still was the center of the conversation most of the time.


W家とS家も参加してくれた。楽しかったね。
W and S families also joined us. Thanks everyone.

Our neighbor fooled us with "Takoyaki" and "cakes". Actually, they were just profiterole and shepherd's pie with strawberry on top. Pretty smart.

近所の友達がたこ焼きとケーキをプレゼントしてくれたので、いざ食べようとしたら、シュークリームとシェパーズ・パイだった（笑）。

This is what you see a lot during Women's Conference
at Brigham Young University.　I think they have so many women at conference and some women mistake it as lady's room or they just couldn't be bothered to be in a loooong line.
これがブリガムヤング大学で毎年恒例のWomen's Conferenceでよく見られる光景だ。女性の客が多いため、間違えて男性トイレに入る人がいたり、長い列で待ちきれなく、しょうがなく男子トイレに行く女性がいるからこうなるのであろう。


They even hire securities.
